Wooden Sticks for Ice Cream Manufacturers
If you run a moulding line, the stick is not a consumable detail — it is a machine part that happens to be made of wood.
An ice cream stick has to do four things in sequence: feed cleanly out of the inserter without jamming, stand straight in the mould while the mix freezes around it, hold the bar through de-moulding without snapping or pulling out, and survive a chocolate dip without going furry at the edges. A stick that is a tenth of a millimetre over on thickness jams the inserter. One that is under is loose in the magazine and feeds two at a time. Either way the line stops, and the cost of that dwarfs whatever you saved per thousand.
That is why we cut to a tolerance and hold it batch to batch, and why we dry the poplar properly before it is cut rather than after. Kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture, sanded splinter-free, uniform in thickness so the magazine feeds. If you are running a Magnum-style coated bar, the waisted 17/11/17 mm paddle gives the coating something to hold and the customer something to grip.

Will your sticks feed through an automatic inserter?
That is what the thickness tolerance is for. Uniform thickness is the single thing that determines whether a magazine feeds one stick at a time, so it is what we control most tightly. Take a sample bora and run it before you commit to a load.
Can you match the stick we import at the moment?
Usually, yes. Send us a sample and we will measure it and cut to match — length, width, thickness and end profile. Most imported sizes are standard sizes we already make.
What volume can you hold for a production line?
Tell us your weekly run rate and we will agree a standing quantity to keep aside, so you are calling stock forward rather than placing orders. Running out mid-season is the expensive failure, not the price per thousand.
Do you supply the Magnum paddle profile?
Yes, in 94 mm and 113 mm, with the 17 mm lobes and 11 mm waist. It is a harder shape to cut consistently than a plain stick, which is exactly why it is worth checking a sample before you buy it from anyone.
